Vendor Biography

Helen Zuskina (b. 1974, Ukraine). A contemporary self-taught artist working in abstract style. Lives and works in Kharkiv.

Despite not having an academic art education, Helen came to art independently, guided by her inner calling and intuition. Her creative path began in childhood, when her parents noticed her artistic potential and encouraged its development. However, life circumstances led her in another direction, and formal education in the arts never happened.

For many years, Helen and her husband ran a family business — a small store that consumed all of her time and energy. Nevertheless, her interest in aesthetics, design, and painting always remained with her. In her free hours, she studied interior design, experimented with colors and forms, and gradually developed her own artistic vision. Deep inside, Helen always knew that her true calling was painting.

A turning point came after she left her entrepreneurial activity, opening a new chapter entirely devoted to art. Helen immersed herself in painting completely. Since then, she has painted every day, experiencing deep joy and fulfillment, as painting has truly become her life.

Inspired by textures, fleeting moments, and inner states, Helen creates expressive abstract works where texture, color, and conscious composition meet. She actively works in mixed media, experiments with materials, and pays close attention to detail. For her, it is important that each painting feels “alive,” with its own story, character, and soul.

Helen has a particular passion for large-scale works, which allow for deeper immersion into composition and provide space for movement, improvisation, and imagination. At the same time, her smaller pieces are equally expressive and filled with the same dedication to form and meaning.

Her goal as an artist is that each work not only draws attention but also evokes emotions, inviting the viewer into a dialogue with the painting — to pause, notice its nuances, and feel a personal connection. Helen believes that art should not merely decorate, but enliven spaces and awaken emotions.
