Along the Old Street

Along the Old Street, 50×40 cm, acrylic on canvas, impasto, 2025 year

The painting “Along the Old Street” shows a woman walking slowly along an old street of the city. The painting is done in the impasto technique: thick strokes of oil paint create volume and texture, as if the air is filled with damp freshness after the rain.

The color scheme is muted, pastel. Delicate shades of pink, gray-blue, beige and warm ocher merge into a soft watercolor atmosphere, despite the acrylic density of the strokes. The stone pavement reflects the dim light, refracting in small puddles. The facades of old houses seem to dissolve in a light fog.

The woman is dressed in an elegant coat, her silhouette is graceful and a little mysterious. She is holding an open umbrella – perhaps the rain has not stopped yet. Her steps sound muffled, as if we were hearing them through the glass of time. Her face is partially hidden – attention is focused on the movement, on the silence, on her presence in this fragile moment.

Impasto makes every brushstroke come alive – the fabric of the coat, the wet pavement, the umbrella – as if you could touch it. The light in the painting is diffused, as if it comes not from the sun, but from memory itself, from the depths of centuries, experienced by the unshakable walls of the ancient city.
